Ubiquity and the API

January 6th, 2009 Ryan Leave a comment Go to comments

Some days ago we have released the Hellotxt API. One of the firs applications on board is Ubiquity for Hellotxt.

This application allow you to update your status via Ubiquity. You can find more information about Ubiquity here.

Installation

To use it you need to have Ubiquity installed, get it here. Go to this page to add Hellotxt Commands, and Ubiquity should recognize that there are some commands for it on there. You will see a bar across the top that will allow you to ‘subscribe’ to the commands by clicking the ‘Subscribe…’ button that appears. Ubiquity will then present you with a confirmation page with a warning that this is an untrusted source. I give you my word that these commands do nothing to violate your privacy, and only work to allow you to post to Hellotxt via Ubiquity.

You will have to set-up your Hellotxt API user key in order to be able to use this application with your account.

Thought I should let you know that Ubiquity has just moved to version 0.5 and as a result has broken the HelloTxt Ubiquity command is no longer working.

It's not a major panic, as the Ubiquity team are purposefully not automatically rolling out the 0.5 update in order to give people time to update their commands to the new Ubiquity API.
